Santa Barbara’s Martellotto Winery Wins Again at Las Vegas Global Wine Awards
Buellton, CA – Greg Martellotto of Martellotto Winery in Buellton, California, continues to win awards for his Santa Barbara based wines.
His 2019 Las Vegas Global Wine Awards Double Gold Winner - 2017 Martellotto Le Bon Temps Roule Pinot Noir received a 94 point score. The prestigious 14-member judging panel honored him in April at the Palace Station Hotel & Casino. This same wine won Double Gold at the 2018 New Orleans International Wine Awards
"I was proud to receive another respected award in recognition of my work as a winemaker,” says Greg. “With such a distinguished panel evaluating so many wonderful wines, I couldn’t be more pleased."
This is the second year Martellotto Winery received such high honors in the 100% blind tasting competition. Last year his 2016 Il Capoccia Riserva red wine won “Overall Best in Show” and “Best in Show, Red Wine” with a score of 97.
As a highly respected winemaker and wine industry expert, Greg lent his uniquely valuable perspective as a judge on this year’s panel. All wines were tasted blind. The benefit of a blind tasting is that the panelists taste a similar competitive selection of wines side by side.
Greg not only owns Martellotto Winery but runs two other companies. A wine importer/distributor, One Vine Wines, and an online wine retailer, Big Hammer Wines. His level of knowledge and expertise in all aspects of the business shows in the quality of his wines and in the continued awards and high scores.
A savvy and versatile wine specialist, Greg travels constantly, tasting more wine each year than most professionals. The team tastes almost 4,500 different wines every year. His fondness for Bordeaux style wines reflects his deep knowledge and love for these wines. Under his Martellotto label, he makes Bordeaux-style varietal wines from vineyards in Happy Canyon, Santa Barbara County, CA.
