Santa Barbara County Martellotto Winery recently sent a heartfelt THANK YOU to hospital and other healthcare workers battling COVID-19 from Santa Barbara to San Diego.
The winery, which donated over 30 cases, joined other Santa Barbara Wine Country members to send bottles of wine at no charge to front-line workers. The wineries wanted to recognize hospital workers and allow them to relax at the end of another hard day.
A total of 550 cases were donated to doctors, nurses and other medical staff at hospitals in Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, and Orange Counties.
The organization created individual care packages with a thank you note attached to each bottle by hand, in appreciation of their work and dedication to healing those suffering from the coronavirus.
The following hospitals, among others, received the donated wine:
- Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital Foundation
- Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital Foundation
- Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital Foundation
- UCLA Health (multiple locations and clinics throughout Los Angeles)
- St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo
- Kaiser Permanente Orange County
- Anaheim Medical Center
- Mission Hospital Mission Viejo
“Martellotto Winery is honored to be invited to contribute to this effort of recognizing our Southern California healthcare workers. While the California wine trade has been deeply impacted by the events surrounding COVID-19, we wanted to let our healthcare workers know that we understand the magnitude of what they are doing every day. We hope that having a glass of wine at the end of a shift provides them at least a moment of relief and relaxation,” said the owner, Greg Martellotto.
Greg’s winery produces award-winning wines from specially selected vineyards throughout Santa Barbara County. As the only winery crafting single varietal wines from each of the Bordeaux wine grapes, his wines stand out in this region known for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Located in Buellton, Martellotto Winery is a member of the Santa Barbara Vintners Association and supporter of the Santa Ynez wine community. The entire staff sends a huge THANK YOU to everyone working in the healthcare industry in Southern California.
